FAQs
Do I need a visa or passport?
You’ll need a valid passport! Check your expiration date to avoid any last-minute surprises. In the U.S., routine passport renewals take 4–6 weeks, while expedited renewals take 2–3 weeks for an additional $60.
What’s the dress code for the Welcome Party?
Cocktail attire with a festive feel. See examples here.
Ladies, opt for vibrant short or midi dresses. Men, go for breezy linen suits in light or sun-washed tones—no tie needed.
What’s the dress code for the Wedding?
Formal (bow-tie optional) with an Italian garden vibe. See examples here.
Ladies, choose floor-length or midi dresses and feel free to embrace bold colors, prints, or striking silhouettes. Men, wear tuxedos or dark suits in classic tones like black or navy.
What’s the weather like in June?
Expect warm, sunny days with temperatures between 70°F and 80°F. Evenings can be cooler, dropping to mid or high 60s, so a light layer is a good idea. Check out historical temperatures.
When should I arrive in Puglia?
We recommend arriving at least a day or two before the welcome party on June 11 to settle in and adjust to the time difference. Or if you can, we recommend the weekend before to explore the region!
When should I leave Puglia?
We’ve booked a cruise June 13 which we’d love to have you join us on! But there are no official events beyond Friday.
Feel free to depart June 13 or extend your stay through the weekend to explore more of region!
How do I get to Puglia?
Fly into Bari (BRI) or Brindisi (BDS), or take a train to Lecce from major Italian cities. See our Travel page for more information.
Do I need to rent a car?
Renting a car is highly recommended. Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft aren’t available, and taxis can be hit or miss. We’ll share a few taxi contacts here once we secure them!
Is driving in Puglia difficult?
Driving in Puglia is generally easy, but here are a few things to keep in mind:
Manual vs. Automatic: Manual cars are far more common than automatics, so book your rental early if you prefer a car with an automatic transmission.
Speed Trackers: Speed cameras don’t just clock you at one point—they calculate your speed based on how long it takes to travel between checkpoints. Watch your speed when you spot them, trust us, those tickets add up quickly (lesson learned!). Keep an eye out for speed trackers.
Road & Parking Tips: Many roads in Puglia are narrow, parking can be tight, and not all rental cars come with backup cameras. For a smoother experience, we recommend avoiding oversized SUVs.
Where should I stay if recommended hotels are fully booked?
We highly recommend staying in Lecce for easy access to taxis for the welcome party and the shuttle for the wedding day.
If you prefer to stay further south along the coast for more space and proximity to the beaches, just keep in mind that taxis may be harder to find and we would recommend renting a car. Check out our Travel page for more recommendations!
Will transportation be provided to the events?
For the welcome party, parking is available if you’re driving, and taxis are an option within Lecce.
For the wedding, transportation will be provided from Lecce to the wedding venue in Maglie (about a 30 minute drive from Lecce).
What should I do in Puglia outside of the wedding events?
Visit stunning beaches, explore Alberobello’s iconic trulli, wander Lecce’s historic streets, or enjoy wine tasting at local vineyards. See our Activities page for more ideas!
Can I bring a gift?
Your presence is the greatest gift, and we couldn’t ask for more. We’re so grateful for the journey you’re making to join us in Puglia. If you’d like to contribute in another way, you can explore our registry—but please, no physical gifts brought to Italy. Thank you!
What should I pack?
Besides your favorite summer outfits for indulging in endless pasta and seafood, we recommend a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and water shoes—those rocky beaches are breathtaking but can be seriously sharp!
Who can I contact if I have questions?
Feel free to reach out to Marie-Louise at +1-317-682-7713 or Stephen at +1-479-387-0828 for any questions or assistance.
